A standout member of Derbyshire’s sporting community is set to be recognised at this year’s Derby Telegraph Sports Awards and clothing brand HUUB are getting behind them.

The awards evening, which is returning to The Roundhouse at Derby College on Wednesday 6 November, sees 14 different categories presented to worthy winners. But it is the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ which is perhaps the most acclaimed of all and the category HUUB is proudly sponsoring.

Given to someone who has made a lasting impression on sport in Derbyshire the award’s winner will have dedicated their lives to sporting excellence.

Dean Jackson is the owner of the Derby based HUUB and discussed why they made the decision to come on board as category sponsor.

“Sport runs through our veins, it’s why we exist and why we push ourselves” he said.

“Supporting our lifeline makes total sense to us, and especially the greats of the sport in Derbyshire who have inspired, motivated and given us so much enjoyments over the years. We are proud of Derby and even prouder of our sporting heroes of yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

A wide range of successful sportsmen and women will be showcased at the event with individuals, teams and clubs of all ages and ability set to be acknowledged.

Dean identified what qualities are necessary in order to succeed in the sporting world.

“Sport and business have many parallels. You need to be focussed, dedicated, willing to do the small stuff, willing to learn and most of all put yourself out there and keep working and working for those small incremental and sometimes substantial gains.”

Following this the prize giving will commence and entertainment on the night comes in the form of The Voice finalists Belle Voci.

Nominations for the awards close on Friday 30 August and to get your nominations in before the deadline visit
